Bikano wishes an enlightening and sweet Diwali

Bikano wishes each and every one a very Happy and Prosperous Diwali. May our souls be nurtured on this festival of light and we tread the right path just the way lord Rama defeated Ravana and marked an absolute victory of the good over evil. On this festival of light, let us all reach out for the light that resides within each one of us.

The celebration of Diwali goes on for 5 continuous days and the enthusiasm does not dull even till the last minute. Such a celebration is historic and Bikano takes the opportunity to wish each and every one a very happy, prosperous, enlightened and fulfilling Diwali.
The primary day of the festival is commended with “Dhanteras”, the day when people purchase gold, silver or utensils. The second day is celebrated as “Choti Diwali”. Third day is the main day of the festival which is celebrated with diyas, lights, rangoli, greetings, desserts, bursting crackers and all of this is done with amalgamation with love and affection.
The fourth day is celebrated as “Govardhan pooja” and the fifth day as “Bhai duj”. Diwali celebrates the arrival of the day when Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. Diwali also celebrates the triumph of Goddess Kali over Bakasura.
Diwali is a legendary festival that has its roots deep in our mythology but what is better is that that the day is celebrated in our country and among Indians throughout the world with unparalleled zeal and devotion. Bikano feels proud to be a part of such a rich heritage and believes that we all must respect our culture and celebrate the day with pride.

Bikano wishes a happy Karwa Chauth to men and women alike

Bikano wishes each one a very happy Karwa Chauth! The fasting festival which used to be associated with women only is now being observed by more and more men. Bikano, which is the namkeen division of Bikanervala, upholds this change with vigor and enthusiasm and wishes each one a healthy festival and a long life.
Bikano wishes a happy Karwa Chauth to men and women alike
The story behind the grand celebration of Karwa Chauth is found in the rich Indian mythology. Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva have said that observing the fast of Karwa Chauth elongates the life of a woman’s life partner. The mythological tale goes as follows and is also mentioned in the puja verses that the fast holders do on Karwa Chauth.
The katha read amid puja tells the story of Princess Veeravati who gets married to a lord. On her first Karva Chauth, she chooses to go visit her guardians. The fasting throughout the day renders her frail and she blacks out. Her seven brothers, who cherish her immensely, cannot stand to see their sister in this state and deceive her into imagining that the moon has risen. The moment she breaks her fast, she gets word that her spouse, the lord is dead. The queen is grief stricken and hurries to her spouse's royal residence. Enroute, she meets Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva who advise her that it is an atonement and fasting on Karva Chauth will bring back her spouse. The story closes cheerfully as the king comes back to life and they live joyfully ever after.

The story is very interesting and affirms one’s belief in the logic behind celebrating the festival. Bikano believes that the story is as beautiful as the festival itself and bespeaks the tale of love, romance and commitment.
